IRIS Technology, a Spanish engineering company, has developed a solution for a leading food company producing cookies and pastries. In order to ensure quality is constant, and to avoid cost overruns due to large variations of the fat value, controlling the fat content in real-time is essential. Hyperspectral imaging can help with keeping the manufacturing process under control.

Joan Puig, Deputy Director at IRIS, tested several lens types from various manufacturers, but settled for Kowa’s LM8HC-SW because of its outstanding performance over the full spectral range of their VISUM HIS system. Coupled with Kowa’s SWIR-optimized industrial lenses, their hyperspectral imaging systems can now monitor the conformity of their products to the recipe in real time, making it a perfect combination for food inspection.
