Extension rings or spacer rings are used to extend the image distance between the main image plane of the lens and the sensor. Thus the working distance can be reduced and the magnification can be increased. Kowa offers C-Mount extension rings of 1mm, 5mm, 10mm and 20mm lengths.

The standard mount for imaging cameras is C-mount with a back focus of 17.526mm. The flange focal distance is the distance between the last surface of the lens and the sensor of the camera. C-Mount also has the thread pitch of 1⁄32 inch and the diameter of 1 inch. Another widely used camera mount is CS-mount. CS-mount lenses are often used in surveillance cameras, and sometimes in low-cost imaging applications. CS-mount lenses have the same thread pitch as C-mount lenses, but the flange focal distance is 12.5 mm. Using a C-CS mount adapter, C-mount lenses can be used on CS camera mounts. Conversely, this does not work, so using CS-mount lenses on C-mount cameras is not possible.

The MidOpt LP1070-27 is a good fit for Kowa C-Mount LM25C-VIS-SW with transmission from VIS to SWIR. Because of the MidOpt StablEDGE® technology this filter less susceptible to effects from angular shifting seen when optical filters are placed in front of camera lenses.
