Traffic monitoring systems must provide the best images under the most difficult conditions. Number plates of vehicles moving at very high speed on several lanes in heavy traffic must be recognized in detail. Even with changing light conditions, drivers have to be clearly identified on the basis of the recordings. Often, clear color pictures are required both at day and by night. It is important that the lenses used meet these high requirements of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

Lenses optimized for traffic monitoring

Kowa offers lenses with focal lenghts, resolutions and image sizes common in the ITS market. Kowa's range also includes IR-corrected lenses for day and night recordings. These lenses minimize the focus shift that occurs with standard lenses when switching from visible light to IR illumination at night. For the difficult lighting conditions of ITS applications, Kowa offers lenses with modern P-Iris technology. The P-iris control developed by Kowa enables a better interaction between the camera and the lens to improve the contrast, resolution and the depth of field in environments with changing light conditions. Due to their high robustness, Kowa lenses are ideally suited for continuous use during traffic monitoring.
